• Creative Commons Attribution (by)

  

This license lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon the work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation.

• Creative Commons Attribution No Derivative Works (by-nd)

  

This license allows for redistribution, commercial and non-commercial, as long as it is passed along unchanged and in whole, with credit to the artist.

• Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial (by-nc)

  

This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon the artist's work non-commercially, and although their new works must also acknowledge the artist and be non-commercial, they don’t have to license their derivative works on the same terms.

• Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial No Derivatives (by-nc-nd)

  

This license is the most restrictive of the six main licenses, allowing redistribution. This license is often called the “free advertising” license because it allows others to download the artist's works and share them with others as long as they mention the artist and link back to the artist, but they can’t change them in any way or use them commercially.

• Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike (by-nc-sa)

  

This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon the artist's work non-commercially, as long as they credit the artist and license their new creations under the identical terms. Others can download and redistribute the artist's work just like the by-nc-nd license, but they can also translate, make remixes, and produce new stories based on the artist work. All new work based on the artist's will carry the same license, so any derivatives will also be non-commercial in nature.

• Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike (by-sa)

  

This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon the artist's work even for commercial reasons, as long as they credit the artist and license their new creations under the identical terms. This license is often compared to open source software licenses. All new works based on the artist's will carry the same license, so any derivatives will also allow commercial use.

• Creative Commons Sampling (sampling)

Parts of the work can be used for any purpose other than advertising, but the whole work cannot be copied or modified.

This license has been retired, but unless the music has since been relicensed, this license is still in effect for music which was licensed before the license was retired.

• Creative Commons Sampling Plus (sampling+)

  

Parts of the work can be copied and modified for any purpose other than advertising, and the entire work can be copied for noncommercial purposes.

• Creative Commons Noncommercial Sampling Plus (nc-sampling+)

The whole work or parts of the work can be copied and modified for noncommercial purposes.

• Public Domain

  

The work is certified as being in the public domain.
