MusicBrainz Wiki Documentation Effort Status
Untouched for more than one year. WikiDocs have settled down now, right? Suggesting DeletedPage. -- dmppanda 2007-04-01 16:17:18
Status:
I believe this page should be replaced by CategoryDocumentationOfficial --DonRedman see discussion below.
This page NeedsEditing and will eventually become a CandidateForDeletion. --Fuchs
I think that this is part of a hack by Dupuy. Please keep this page untill WikiDocs have settled down. --DonRedman
Still needed or? -- dmppanda 2008-02-14 17:36:45
This page works like the Category pages, in that by clicking on the OriginalVersion title above, you can see all of the pages which are based on an original version from the main MusicBrainz pages. Many of these are outdated or need serious improvement; please look at them and see what you can do.
Having a list of pages that have been wikified from the main site is also useful in that we hope eventually to replace many of the main site documentation pages with redirects to the corresponding Wiki page, or where that is not desirable or feasible, to at least update the main site page with improved content from the Wiki.
When wikifying pages from the main site, simply add a line like the one that follows right after the Category:
CategoryDocumentation [http://www.musicbrainz.org/future.html OriginalVersion]
that links to the original version of the page on the main site. The mere existence of that line will cause it to show up in the list generated here, and it also documents the original source for replacement or update. The OfficialDocumentation page has a list of pages on the main site that are good candidates for wikification. --@alex
This page is BadWikiStyle. I believe It tries to do three things at the same time.
Link to the sources of OfficialMusicBrainzDocumentation.
Serve as a BackLink for OfficialMusicBrainzDocumentation.
Keep track of the status of RestructuringTheDocumentation.
I'd rather do the first with
[http://www.musicbrainz.org/future.html Original version of this page]
And the second with
CategoryDocumentationOfficial
(or CategoryOfficialDocumentation, if you prefer, but I think it is ok to have categories a bit hirarchical)
For the third purpose hand-written notes will be necessary anyway, once that more than just one or two people get involved.
I think if we split these funktiony in three pages, things get simpler to understand for readers and thus people will more likly help along.--DonRedman
