    Guidelines

Note: these guidelines were inherited from the old track-track relationship, and are now mostly obsolete

    • Significant re-arrangement of the material is permitted, as the songs are substantially the same. However, the song must have been either:
    • All versions of a track which are linked with this relationship type should be linked to the same earliest version of the track. The 'earliest version' is the earliest 'final' version. This is the version which typically would be released on an album. Therefore, even though a demo version of a song may have been recorded earlier chronologically, the album version, not the demo version, should be the one to which all versions of that song are linked.
    • If the track originates from the same master and mix, Earliest Release Relationship Type should be used, not this relationship type.
    • If the track originates from the same mix, but a later master, Remaster Relationship Type should be used, not this relationship type.
