[edit] Musicbrainz is not perfect...
MusicBrainz, just like anything else, is not perfect. The software itself (be it the database model, the tagging interface, or the website), the style rules, or the community have a number of issues.
When confronted with such difficulties in a collaborative project, there are two ways to handle things:
- try to find solutions, both practical ones (workarounds meant to alleviate current shortcomings), and theoretical ones that will drive the global direction of the project toward a better future
- express frustration and voice your anger and inability to contribute anything helpful or productive by spitting harsh words
MusicBrainz, being a collaborative and open project, makes it possible (and encourages) the first attitude: anyone is entitled to participate and try make things better - hence the reason why this wiki exists: it's a tool, or incubator, letting everybody provide constructive feedback on any MusicBrainz topic.

Sometimes, even the best of us fall short of courage, feel distressed, and let their emotions overwhelm and cloud their judgment - in such a state of mind, the only thing they can do is rant.
Some other people are just born like that - they can't cope with their feelings, and are unable to properly deal and communicate with other human beings - they are commonly referred to as trolls.
That's not a big deal! Just because people can't help being morons doesn't mean we should ignore or ban them. If they can't help, well, so be it!
Furthermore, ranting is not all that negative (yes, it's counter-productive, useless, doesn't solve issues, and is just a pain for the others): indeed, it has therapeutic virtues for the ranter - got bad vibrations? Flush them out of your system: go rant, feel that soft, warm ranting fluid pulsing through your body and mind, and come back when you'll be able to do anything useful!
The purpose of this page is simple:
- let people rant and be trolls as much as they want, in the ranting sandbox, while not impairing the work of these who are in better dispositions and are actually solving issues (hence, wiki editors are encouraged to move away trolls from the rest of the wiki in here)
- be funny and/or educational for everybody
- re-insure NBTs (natural born trolls): you're not banned, harassed, chased, and your "input" is not deleted - it's all here, in its abusive, aggressive, contemptful and pointless shining glory! :-)

- You're wrong, this BS piece of bloated, over-engineered database is doomed to fail. The entry matters. I don't see anyone but spotty CS majors that just completed their database design lecture using this insane moloch. I'm out of here. Your guidelines suck and don't solve anything. Where is the data? I've never had a single CD filled out by MB. You just don't get the input. OTOH, I rarely do not get my tracks filled out by FreeDB (and correcting the errors from there takes a fraction of the intractable click-fest I have to endure here). Go have your wondrous pipe dreams, losers. -- Domenico
