This relationship type belongs to the Personal Association Relationship Class.
Description
This links two artists together where one is the parent of the other.

Attributes
“start date”
- This indicates the date that the child-parent relationship began.
- For birth parents, this is the date that the child artist was born.
- For adoptive parents, this is the date that the child artist was adopted.
- For step-parents, this is either the date that the child artist was born or the date that the child artist's parents married, whichever is later.
- For godparents, this is the date that the child artist was baptized (or the equivalent, depending upon the religion involved).
“end date”
- This should be left blank.
“step”
- This indicates that the child-parent relationship is due only to the marriage of the child's parent; i.e., that parental kinship between the child artist and the target artist exists only because one of the child artist's parents married the target artist.
“godparent”
Guidelines
- This relationship type is only applicable to person artists. Neither artist involved in this relationship type may be a group artist.
- This relationship type should be used to link the artists' legal names. An artist's performance name should not be linked using this relationship type.
Examples
- Bob Marley is the parent of Ziggy Marley
- Ziggy Marley is the child of Bob Marley
