Audio Fingerprint

Audio fingerprints are identifiers for audio files based on the contained audio data. MusicBrainz currently makes use of Relatable's TRM which is an algorithm matching files by audio fingerprints but may abbandon the support for this in the future - see GettingRidOfTRM for more info.
In addition to TRM, and the fingerprint in Kurt Rosenfeld's FDMF, there are a number of different commercial systems:
