Data Trivia Display

In the past some ideas on displaying trivia, generated from the MusicBrainz database, have been mentioned. This page tries to list them. It is best to discuss ideas, problems and solutions here instead of across mailing lists.

Ideas

  • July 12 2005
    • Upcoming releases
    • Recent releases
    • Recently deceased artists
  • August 4 2005 and a reply
    • Most common last/first names
    • List of artists with the earliest dates of birth
    • Artists with the most releases
      • Right now Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven. Of course, they are CSG cheaters :-), so the real winners are probably more Grateful Dead (1,146 releases), Nirvana (90's US grunge band) (754 releases) and Metallica (540 releases). More such stats at MbMysql -- dmppanda 14:55, 05 December 2007 (UTC)
  • And Mozart creeps into the #2 spot, leaving it Mozart 1544, Bach 1536, Beethoven 1286, Grateful Dead 1146, Nirvana 742, Metallica 550 and Pearl Jam 540, for the artists with more than 500 releases.  :) -- BrianSchweitzer 14:18, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

    • right (in case you exclude "[non-album-tracks]"), followed by Live, The Best Of, The Collection, Best Of, The Very Best Of, Demo, Super Hits, Collection, Love Songs, Gold, Anthology, Ultimate Collection ... - So I think, it doesn't make much sense to put this on the trivia page. ;) --Fuchs
The first (most used) somewhat original titles are One, Shine, Home and Forever, and the somewhat ubiquitous [untitled] -- dmppanda 14:55, 05 December 2007 (UTC)
  • Of course, Album with most CDId and tracks with most TRM. Also most lookuped TRM and, if available, most lookuped CDId. --ClutchEr2
  • I think most lookuped TRM info won't be available any more since the TRM stats were turned off for performance reasons. --Shepard
  • Youngest and oldest artists --azertus
  • I would say: Jordy (4 years old for his first release) and Jeanne Calmant (121 years old). Note that both these wonders are french, and that you really shouldn't buy/hear that stuff :) --dmppanda
    • Joy Gruttmann was also 4 years old, when she sung her first song. ;) -- Shepard 14:44, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
      • If we believe AMZ, Jordy released his first cr*p exactly two weeks before his fourth birthday. Can you dig the release date of your "champion"? ;) -- dmppanda 15:18, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
        • Unfortunately the first stuff she sung was for a kids tv series and was not released. :( -- Shepard 15:21, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Timeline with birthdays and deathdays of artists, founding and splitting dates of groups, group members' joining and leaving dates, and release dates. Possibly other dates I'm not thinking of right now. --FrederikSOlesen
  • First ever (commercially) released vinyl. First ever (commercially) released CD. First ever (commercially) released errr, thing, stuff, whatever, with music on it. -- dmppanda 16:53, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

    • Most artists in the db? ;) -- dmppanda 14:55, 05 December 2007 (UTC)
