Talk:How to Add a Release

The unfortunate thing about this page as it stands now is that it's literally massive wall-to-wall blocks of text. I think the layout might work better if - instead of describing each field, you go through step-by-step the process of adding or editing a release. (It's kind of similar, but not quite the same). More whitespace would help, alongside illustrations indicating particular fields.

Much of the content of this page is filled with 'neat tips and tricks'. The information on this page should probably be limited to the basic functionality of the release editor - perhaps the advanced tips and tricks could be moved to a separate page?

If possible, try to link to a guideline page rather than including descriptions of the contents of a field directly in the page.

I agree w/ Kepstin, this is an imposing chunk of text (but no more imposing than the screenshot-heavy approach from symphonick :P ) But it's a fine placeholder while you move things around and get the basic structure of the wiki organized to your liking.

IMO this is a complex enough task that it calls for a "starting page".

I am really struggling to figure out how to best add the second CD of a double CD set, now that they are linked together as they are. I used to just add two separate CDs and that worked well because the TOC put in the number of tracks and their lengths etc. Now I can do that for the first CD, but I have to add the second CD information manually. It would be great if there could be a wiki page on how to add multiple CD releases, linked to from this page. 11 February 2012

I really wish I could add that - but there's just no good way to add an additional disc from a CD TOC yet. I blame our developers. In the meantime, I'd recommend either adding the disc manually and then adding the TOC to it (you don't have to type the lengths, as they'll be set from the TOC later) or adding two discs like before and merging them as said in How to Merge Releases. --Reosarevok 03:14, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
