Event art is artwork connected to an event. Most often this means things like posters, but the Event Art Archive can also store other event-related imagery such as tickets, plans and even merchandise.

Why should I submit event art?

Event art on MusicBrainz is often used as a form of evidence for the data that appears in the database, such as the time and place for the event, who performed and in which order, etc. Additionally, just archiving event art is a goal in itself, since event art is a lot more transient than other music art such as release covers.

For this reason sourcing event art can be slightly tricky, and not as simple as copying the first image returned from a search engine. You should always make sure the event art you're adding is for the exact event you're adding it to.

See the Usage heading for more information about how to add cover art to a release.

Fan art

Any fan-made or edited artwork is not to be uploaded to any event, unless it's eventually made official and used by artists or promoters to promote the event.

This includes any form of alteration to the positioning of graphical elements within the image (such as removing or adding any details), as well as "image improvements" such as upscaling a small image using an AI tool.

In MusicBrainz website display

As event art has legal licensing and copyright issues associated, MusicBrainz can display event art only from the Event Art Archive. The first-ordered poster for an event will be displayed on the event sidebar to illustrate the event.

Usage

We welcome your contribution of event art images. See How to Add Event Art for instructions. See Event Art Types for a list of types of event art (such as Poster, Banner, Ticket, etc.) with which images can be labelled.
