Style for Bonus Discs

Add " (bonus disc)" at the end of a BonusDisc's ReleaseTitle.

Example

If some copies of a release are accompanied by a "bonus" disc, the bonus disc's name should follow one of the following examples:

"Mother Nature Calls (bonus disc)"

"Greatest Hits (bonus disc: Acoustic Hits)"

  • Note, that in this case the title of the bonus disc is formatted according to SubTitleStyle.

Rationale

Why not just use (disc 1) + (disc 2) for the album and the bonus disc?

Because bonus discs are generally only provided with some copies of an album, traditionally the first x produced. This means there will be many people, probably the majority, who own only the first disc and would find it strange to have (disc 1) at the end of a single disc release.

Why not just use the name of the bonus disc?

There is, currently, no other way to link two releases together than to give them similar names. Also, when people are searching for this disc, having both titles means more people will be able to find it and, just as important, recognize it as the disc they own.

Discussion

Sometimes a bonus audio CD is packaged with a DVD; should this style be applied in that case? I tend to feel that it shouldn't, but I don't think this has really been hashed out. @alex

  • To push this a bit, I just had to vote on something like this. I couldn't find a reason not to apply this style. --Fuchs
