A DiscID is the code number which MusicBrainz uses to link a physical CD to an album listing.

It is a string of letters (something like [[[Image:cd.gif]].

Detailed Display

On the album view page, any DiscIDs are shown at the bottom of the page, and clicking on these or on the "View Info" link will give a detailed display of the DiscID.

DiscID Clashes

An album may have any number of DiscIDs, and a DiscID may be linked to multiple albums. This is because DiscIDCalculation is involves a hash of the frame offsets of the CD tracks.

Different pressing of a CD often have slightly different frame offsets, and hence different DiscIDs.

Conversely, two different CDs may happen to have exactly the same set of frame offsets and hence the same DiscID.
