=Principle: Encourage Volunteers=

One of the main [[MusicBrainz Principle|MusicBrainzPrinciple]]<code><nowiki></nowiki></code>s is to encourage volunteers. This means to create an evironment in which people who want to spend their free time to work on [[MusicBrainz]] - either as developers or in other ways - get all the support they need from the community. Developers even get liberties to make decisions.

In some cases volunteers might need someone working as their "shield" (for developers this is the [[Idea Champion|IdeaChampion]]) who provides special support for them and assumes all the communication between the volunteer and the community.

I'm thinking about artists adding their own releases, collectors, people "sitting at the source". In some cases it might be worth letting them add the data without any hassle and cleaning up after them - so they get a "shield"/co-worker as well.'' -- [[User:Shepard|Shepard]] 23:41, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
