Classic Tagger Quick Start Guide

To start using the tagger, follow these four steps:

  1. Select files or directories of files: Use the Open Files or Open Folders buttons to load MP3, Ogg Vorbis or WAV files into the tagger. The tagger will list the new files in the Pending tab and start calculating acoustic fingerprints. Files identified by the tagger will be added to the Identified tab, and files that were not identified will be added to the Unidentified.
  2. Tag unidentified files: Use the embedded web browser to match up files in the Unidentified tab. Select a file from the tab and then click on Lookup. Follow the instructions on the web page to find the right track and then click on the File:mblookup-tag.gif icon in front of the track to match up the your file with the one shown on the web page.
  3. Review identified files: Once you have tagged your unidentified files, click on the identified tab. Tracks in the identified tab are color-coded according to their similarity to the metadata found in the track. Tracks with a red background are more likely to be mismatches, and tracks with a white/grey background are likely to be good matches. Review all the tracks to ensure that all the tracks have been properly identified and matched. If a track has been misidentified/mismatched, select the track and click on Misidentified and then match the track from the Unidentified tab.
  4. Submit TRM IDs and write new ID3/Vorbis comment tags: After you're certain that all the tracks have been properly matched, click on the submit button to submit your TRM IDs to the server. Then, click on the save button to write new tags to your files and rename then.
