A Frogs' Brigade Editing Party

What?

On 2006/09/04, the french MusicBrainz editors decided to take the control back over the french part of the database, by organising a joint tidying effort during the month of September, in order to drastically enhance the quality of all our (beloved :p) french artists.

You can find the original annoucement and details in the mailing list.

During the time of this event, this page helps them maintaining a list of done/ongoing tidying efforts.

It will certainly be moved back to the FrenchArtists page when we'll be done.

Note about the "quality" levels: for all levels, it's implied that you must check the artist name spelling and sortname, that the artist type is set, and that the artist doesn't have a mispelled "ghost" in the database

Superb quality

Same as good (see below), plus:

  • releases have ARs goodies :)
  • no bogus discid
  • artist has birthdate (and possibly death date)
  • artist has all his collab ARs set
  • artist has a short biographic annotation
  • no bogus NAT
  • no bogus artist alias

Good quality

Criteria:

  • no spelling errors
  • good capitalization (with or without the debated "exceptions")
  • all releases have language and status verified and set
  • all releases have at least one release event
  • all releases have been searched on Amazon
  • all releases have at least a label name in annotation (means the release is not bogus/dubious), and ideally cat number + EAN
  • this also apply to all VA releases

Decent

Criteria:

  • no spelling errors
  • good capitalization (with or without the debated "exceptions")
  • all releases have language set

(note that some artists actually in this category may indeed be better, but we need to verify that)

  • There are a lot of duos/trios/grouped artists names that are either incomplete or simply mangled (search the VA albums)
