History
"Next Generation Schema" (or simply NGS) refers to the updated database schema released on 18 May 2011.
The update, with a corresponding revision of the style guidelines, was considered a major milestone in the development of Musicbrainz. Hence, it's not uncommon to describe certain relationships, style-related practices and UI elements as being either "pre-" or "post-NGS".
