Please read the page on the Style Council for some other practices.

If you think there is a need for a new style guideline, please proceed as follows:

  1. If you are unsure whether this has been discussed already, you could ask on the Users Mailing List. Also please search the MusicBrainz Wiki for related places where the issue might have been discussed already.
  2. Raise the issue on the Style Mailing List.
  3. If people start to pick your proposal up, or if you need to describe it in detail, please create a wiki page for it.
  4. If consensus is reached, your page will eventually be made official by a member of the StyleCouncil. Don't do this yourself.
