How I would recommend dealing with unresponsive editors:

  • The first time someone does something: Explain what the problem is and how they should have done it instead. If it's not clear why they did what they did, ask.
  • If they do it again after you've explained why it wasn't right: Give people the benefit of the doubt. Explain it again (or point to where you previously explained it). Maybe they didn't see what you said. Maybe they forgot. Maybe they misunderstood.
  • If they still do it again: *Politely* point out that you've previously explained it, include a link (if you can't find it, it didn't happen) and ask them clearly to respond to confirm that they are getting your messages.
  • If you still don't get a response, report it to an admin. A brief explanation of what they're doing or not doing and links showing where the previous steps happened should be enough.

Give people plenty of time to read and/or respond to your comments. At least a few days, preferably a week. Not everyone checks their email constantly (or even daily). Sometimes things take a while to arrive. Sometimes email clients don't work properly.
