MixEngineerAlias

Purpose

Mixing engineers (the people who are responsible for the final mix down immediately before cutting to vinyl) often add their name to the run out grooves of vinyl. They play a role in the feeling of the sound, but they are rarely credited anywhere other than this tag or logo. This page hopes to keep a small list of who each alias is.

Alias Real Name Style Other Notes
Simon - The Exchange Simon Davey Drum & Bass -
Beau Beau Thomas Drum & Bass Current engineer for Heathman's in London
Stu (with a stylized S) Stuart Hawkes Drum & Bass Metropolis
Nats + Jamie Jack Adams Drum & Bass Used to work for Heathmans, left around 2005. Nats handled booking, and did not engineer.
Dill Unknown Drum & Bass Found on VRECSUK013

Discussion

I may be wrong, but why don't you create these artists in MB, then link them with the AdvancedRelationship EngineerRelationshipType (with the specific type Mixed) to the releases? Aliases (and annotations) could then be added to the artists. -- murdos 16:53, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

  • Hey murdos, I am doing that, but for aliases that haven't been entered etc, this page is a good way to keep track of stuff. If it's un-necessary, feel free to delete it though! -- OliverCharles
    • Doesn't look "unnecessary", but you possibly want to clarify the purpose of this page ("a working memo for an ongoing documentation effort going on in the database" or something in the line?). DeleteWhenCooked. -- dmppanda 10:38, 28 April 2007 (UTC) Great! So it is more a WIP than some metadata that could not be entered in MB currently. I've misunderstood it. The name of is page is also confusing: I first thought it was a some documentation like ArtistAlias. We should maybe rename it ;) -- murdos 15:40, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

Tentative conclusion ( ;-) ): OliverCharles, are you ok to move this page to "OliverCharles/MixEngineerAlias"? That way the won't be any confusion with any documenation page. -- murdos 21:43, 06 May 2007 (UTC)

  • Oops, sorry about taking so long! That is fine with :) -- OliverCharles 01:26, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
