Status: My research, questions & comments for CSG Track Titles. This is NOT a guideline. Possible future use: Detailed CSG examples.

How should we enter classical track titles in MB?
I've tried to copy the tracklists exactly as printed on the releases.

Keys

Simple example; this is already in CSG/languages/English but I'm guessing it's the same in many other languages.
(Changing notational style was an old style practice).

Bach: Cello Suites (don't change keys style)

Guidelines in effect:

• CSG/Track Title: subtitle-style
• CSG/Language English: "no." should be lower cased

Bach Edition: Sonata no. 6 (keys in many languages)

Common practice for keys. I'm suggesting the complete language is entered as official (not pseudo) tracklist.

Quotes & titles inside titles

I'm suggesting that quotes is typography we can capture & that we leave it as printed in tracktitles.

Guidelines in effect:

• CSG/Track Title: subtitle-style
• join lines if a title is printed on more than one line
• leave out librettists & composers from a title

Note that according to Wikipedia, both "St John" & "St. John" are correct.

Official translations

This example have 2 official languages; it's recommended that the translated libretto is not used. (BTW which version is performed?) That is, both official languages here use the language that is performed on the recording.

This is a multi-language release, but only the word "Seite/Side/Face" is written in more than one language. The difference between a English/German & French would be how to capitalize the word "opus" (if it is something else than "op." in French?) Or does French make more sense here because of "Poésies de Théophile Gautier"?
