I find the "data-diarrhea" revert comment quite offensive. Given "We are likely going to use this list of Work Types to launch NGS", there seems good reason to consider what work types we also have reason to need, initially, outside of the BBC data. The list that was reverted away was based on the CSG Standard lists, with regard to what types are frequent in that data source. Minimally, however, the following types seem to also be needed:

* Suite

These might be general types, or they could maybe be attributes instead:
* Variation(s)
* Arrangement
* Reduction
* Duet / Duo
* Trio
* Quartet
* Quintet
* Sextet
* Septet
* Octet
* "Movement" (or "Work" or "Composition"; generic classical type to cover tempo-named works such as "Adagio for Strings", "Allegro for choir", etc)

These more strongly may be attributes rather than general types:
* "Lost work"
* Fragmentary work
* Uncompleted work

  • Cadenza
  • Canon
  • Chant
  • Contredanse
  • Dance
  • Divertimento
  • Fantasie
  • Fugue
  • Minuet
  • Psalm
  • Recitatif
  • Serenade
  • Song
  • Toccata
