AutoEditors

AutoEditors are Editors who have been trusted to make edits that are automatically approved (AutoEdits) without going through the normal voting process, as well as approve other editors' edits. There is a list of all AutoEditors.

All Editors and AutoEditors are expected to follow the MusicBrainz CodeOfConduct.

If you are an AutoEditor, you can participate in the AutoEditor elections.

AutoEditors can make some types of edits without going to a vote.

Obligations of an AutoEditor

AutoEditors should always align themselves to the CodeOfConduct. Furthermore they should be able to look beyond their own nose regarding the data they edit. It is good to have experts in certain areas but every AutoEditor should at least know the basic rules for editing data in every music area and be familiar with all kinds of structural edits and processes. Additionally it is always good if they show some interest in the community, the FutureWork and general issues.

Subscription to the AutomodsMailingList is mandatory for all AutoEditors and they are encouraged to participate in nomination discussions there.

Becoming an AutoEditor

In order to become an AutoEditor, another AutoEditor has to nominate you (see AutoEditorElection). If your nomination receives two seconders, and a simple majority of votes, you will be promoted to AutoEditor status (this may require you to logout, and login again to be activated).

• Brian: * There isn't any script for deletion: pages marked as CandidateForDeletion are manually removed (usually by WikiWardens). This is just a way to advert people that we intent to remove such page and call for eventual vetoes. * This page is not marked as CandidateForDeletion, but AutoModerator (http://wiki.musicbrainz.org/AutoModerator?action=show) is.     • DeleteWhenCooked (For the entire block I guess): Ok, just was going off the comment, and looking more closely, you're right, it is the redirect that's the CandidateForDeletion - somewhat confusing when I was going through checking on them :P We still have several pages using the old terminology - looks like we'll need to do a "moderator" and "automoderator" terminology sweep. -- BrianSchweitzer 17:26, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
