#REDIRECT [[Barcode]]
The ''Global Trade Item Number'' (GTIN) is a universal number system for identifying products. It was developed by the GS1 (a merger of ''EAN International'', ''Uniform Code Council'' (UCC, the guys behind the UPCs) and ''Electronic Commerce Council of Canada'' (ECCC)) to have a general term for the numbers like [[EAN]] and [[UPC]] which appear as [[Barcode|BarCode]]<code><nowiki></nowiki></code>s on products all over the world.

MusicBrainz allows to store GTINs with [[Release Event|ReleaseEvent]]<code><nowiki></nowiki></code>s, called barcode there. Before that was possible, they were commonly put in [[Release Annotation|ReleaseAnnotation]]<code><nowiki></nowiki></code>s, using the informal [[Release Annotation Style|ReleaseAnnotationStyle]].
