Description

This describes a situation where an artist has changed its name.

Link Phrases

Artist was renamed into Artist

Artist is the later name of Artist

Attributes

“start date”

This should be the date the rename occurred. The same date should be used in both the start and end date fields, as an artist is not "renamed" over a period of time.

“end date”

This should be the date the rename occurred. The same date should be used in both the start and end date fields, as an artist is not "renamed" over a period of time.

Guidelines

For cases when the name changes are very minor, or the artist is considered as clearly the same under the different names (see A Silver Mt. Zion), don't keep the entities separate just for the sake of this relationship.
