Slang used by the users in MusicBrainz

Note: this vocabulary is mostly used in the IRC channel as this is the place where brainerz talk most laxly. ;)



N-bomb

Definition: High amount of No-votes on an edit. Analogue: Y-bomb for Yes-votes and A-bomb for Abstain-votes.

Example: "Drop the N-bomb please! [link to edit]" (in Chat)

time-of-day

Definition: Form of greeting that came up because MB being an international project and the people contributing live in different time-zones so a daytime used as greetings do not apply for everyone.

Origin in MB: G0llum?

NAT (plural: NATs)

Definition: Acronym for "non-album track(s)"

Origin: mo

Waga waga klepto!

Definition: Noone knows... ;)

Example: * Quits: ruaok ("Waga waga klepto!")

Origin: Ruaok

tunepimp

Definition: Name of the library used for tagging audio files ("Pimp my tunes" -> "Pimp my ride").

thingy

Definition: You know... thingy!

Origin in MB: Nikki

bogus

Definition: Used to describe incorrect edits, albums, ...

Example: "This album is completly bogus!"

Origin in MB: mo

asshat

Definition: Don't feel offended if someone calls you asshat. It just means they like you. :)

Origin in MB: SenRepus

natta

Definition: Norwegian for "night".

Origin in MB: mo

ding!

Definition: Meaning "Exactly!", "You got it!", "Good point!".

Origin: Ruaok
