This is the guideline for titles or parts of titles in Estonian. Do not assume that anything expressed here is valid for other languages.

In English

Catalogue & number

Catalogues should always be preceded by comma and space.
Opus and number should always be lower-cased and abbreviated: op. and nr. There should be a space before the number.
Specific catalogues (eg. Köchel) should follow their usual capitalization.

Examples

op. 4
op. 27 nr. 3
Sümfoonia nr. 2, op. 48
Keelpillikvartett D-duur, op. 11

Keys

There are two main styles to indicate keys in Estonian, "-duur/-moll" and "-mažoor/-minoor" (see full table below). Both "duur" & "moll" and "mažoor" & "minoor" are always lower-cased, while the key itself should start with uppercase if it's major and with lowercase if it's minor. For cases where one of the two styles is used in a release, use the same one. For generic cases (like work titles) "duur" and "moll" are preferred.

Examples

Ces-duur
Kontsert c-moll
Sümfooniline scherzo La-mažoor
Sümfoonia nr. 4 re-minoor

Capitalization and quotation marks

Estonian titles in general should follow MusicBrainz's standard capitalization for Estonian.

If possible, use typographically correct Estonian quotes („“) in Estonian titles.

Examples

Jaanilaulud: IV. Miks Jaani oodatakse
Süit balletist „Kalevipoeg“: VI. Rahvatants
„Ma vaatan üles mäele“ tsüklist „Thule eleegiad“
