This is the guideline for titles or parts of titles in French. Do not assume that anything expressed here is valid for other languages.

Exemples

do bémol majeur
12 études, op. 29: no 17 en do majeur

Ejemplos

Homenaje a Lope de Vega, op. 90: I. Cuando tan hermosa os miro…
Sonata nº 2 «Sonata española», op. 82

In English

Catalogue & number

Catalogues should always be preceded by comma and space.
Opus and number should always be abbreviated: "op." and "n.º", and lower-cased except when they are used as the beginning or only word in a title ("Conciertos: Op. 14 / Op. 15", "12 estudios: N.º 1"). There should be a space before the number.
Specific catalogues (eg. Köchel) should follow their usual capitalization.

Examples

op. 4
op. 27 n.º 3
Allegro de concierto, op. 46
Cantos de España, op. 232, n.º 4: Córdoba

Keys

Keys in French should always be written in lowercase.

Examples

do bémol majeur
12 études, op. 29: no 17 en do majeur
Sonate en fa dièse mineur
Prélude en ré majeur

Capitalization and quotation marks

Spanish titles in general should follow MusicBrainz’s standard capitalization for Spanish.

If possible, use typographically correct Spanish quotation marks (« » or “ ”) in Spanish titles.

Examples

Homenaje a Lope de Vega, op. 90: I. Cuando tan hermosa os miro…
Sonata nº 2 «Sonata española», op. 82
