Eesti keeles

Nimed

MusicBrainzi kontekstis on nimi inimestel, ansamblitel jt gruppidel, plaadifirmadel jt ettevõtetel.

  1. Nimes algab reeglina iga sõna suure tähega: Alumiinium, Sinu Sädelev Sõber, Hukkunud Hinged, Röövel Ööbik, Minu Isa Oli Ausus Ise, Sõpruse Puiestee (ansambel, mitte tegelik puiestee)

  1. Pealkirjas algab reeglina ainult esimene sõna suure tähega: „Ilus maa
  2. Mitmest lausest koosnevas pealkirjas algab iga lause suure tähega.
  3. Kaksikpealkirja teine pool algab suure tähega, neid eraldav ehk väiksega: „Lumi peale ehk Suurest suvest segamini
  4. Sulgudes olev alternatiivpealkiri algab suure tähega: „Kiitus (Pojad on mul õige naksid)
  5. Kui pealkirja alguses on mõttepunktid (ehk kolm punkti), siis jätkub see väikse algustähega ja ilma tühikuta mõttepunktide järel: „*** (…nad läksid öös)
    • Pealkirja keskel olevate mõttepunktide puhul käib tühik ainult nende järele. Pealkirja lõpus olevate mõttepunktide ette ega järele tühikut ei käi.
  6. Iga koha- vm pärisnimi pealkirja sees kirjutatakse läbiva suurtähega (v.a nende liigisõna): „Kevad ja Jaapani meri”, „Viimane (altkulmu) pilk (Tallinnale)
  7. Kõik ülejäänud sõnad pealkirjas algavad väikse tähega.

Üldised põhimõtted

Teksti sees pannakse pealkirjad jutumärkide vahele, nimed mitte (v.a hüüdnimi ees- ja perenime vahel, kuigi hüüdnime selline paigutus pole ametlikult soovitatav).

  1. Pealkirjavälja algusesse ja lõppu jutumärgid ei käi, välja arvatud juhul, kui need on osa pealkirjast (nt kui üks pealkiri viitab teisele): „„Kalevala” seitsmeteistkümnes runo
  2. Üldjuhul ei käi jutumärgid ka loo pealkirja järel sulgudes oleva remiksi või teise versiooni pealkirja ümber: „Väike tüdruk (Spionaatika remiks)”, „Must jänes (remix)” (ilma pealkirjata remiks)
  3. Jutumärkide eelistatud kuju on „…” (n-ö 99 all, 99 üleval — vastavalt EKI soovitusele).
    • Kaksisülakomade ehk nn ühekordsete jutumärkide eelistatud kuju on ‘…’ (n-ö 6 üleval, 9 üleval).
  5. Järjekindel artisti tahe õigustab teistsugust kirjapilti: ansambel Väljasõit rohelisse (mitte Väljasõit Rohelisse), laul „Kylm sonett” (mitte „Külm sonett”)

In English

Names

In MusicBrainz context, persons, bands and other groups, labels and other companies have a name.

  1. Names should be written in Title Case: Alumiinium, Sinu Sädelev Sõber, Hukkunud Hinged, Röövel Ööbik, Minu Isa Oli Ausus Ise, Sõpruse Puiestee (band, not an actual alley (puiestee))

  1. Common nouns (koor ‘choir’, orkester ‘orchestra’, etc.) after names should be lowercased: Eesti Raadio koor

Titles

In MusicBrainz context, releases (albums, compilations, singles, …), recordings, tracks and works have a title, and remixes and other versions may have a title.

  1. Titles should generally have only the first word capitalized (i.e. titles should not be Title Cased): „Ilus maa

  5. If a title begins with ellipsis (…), then the first word should be lowercased and not separated by a space: „*** (…nad läksid öös)
    • If ellipsis is in the middle of a title, then a space should be after it. Ellipsis at the end of a title should be unspaced.
  1. Any placename or other proper noun should be written in Title Case (except their trailing generic terms, if any: järv ‘lake’, meri ‘sea’, tänav ‘street’, maantee/mnt ‘road’, etc.): „Kevad ja Jaapani meri”, „Viimane (altkulmu) pilk (Tallinnale)
  2. Everything else in a title should be lowercased.

  5. Consistent artist intent justifies different spelling (e.g. unusual upper- or lowercasing, or w, x, y instead of v, ks, ü)): a band named Väljasõit rohelisse (not Väljasõit Rohelisse), a song titled „Kylm sonett” (not „Külm sonett”)
