Status: This is an official style guideline.

Title

If the event has an official name, use it. Otherwise, a generic name should be used that makes it as easy as possible to identify the event.

For one-off events, the generic title should generally be of the style "Main Artist(s) at Venue". Use the artist and venue name as appropriate at the time (for example, as shown on the event poster). For concerts that are part of a tour, it is also acceptable to use "Tour Name: City" if that seems more appropriate to the way the events in that specific tour are advertised; either way, aim for consistency for the whole tour. For festivals, append the edition number or year to the festival name.

Venue

For events taking place in a venue complex with more than one venue inside them, link to the most specific venue if known, even if the event art only indicates the complex.

Only link to an area if the venue cannot be determined at all; do not link to both the venue and the area it is in.

Date

For events that happen on one day but are planned to finish after midnight, enter the following day as the end date.

OR

For events that happen on one day but where at least one artist is planned to start performing after midnight, enter the following day as the end date.

OR

For events that happen on one day, enter the same day as the end date, even if the event finishes after midnight.

Time

When available, use the official, advertised start time for the event as a whole (commonly "door time"). The start times for specific performers (including the first performer) should be listed as part of the performer relationships, like main performer.

All times should be entered in 24-hour notation (19:00, not 7:00 PM).

Multi-day and multi-stage events

For one-day festivals with multiple venues, enter an event for the festival, and a sub-event for every venue. Similarly, for multi-day festivals, enter an event for the festival, and a sub-event for every day (and venue, if needed). For multi-day festivals consisting of individual showcases, enter a top level event for the festival plus an event per showcase; a per-day middle layer is only suggested if needed for clarity.

Each level of the festival should be linked to the most precise place of area possible. For top-level multi-venue events, that can be an area where all the venues are located.

Artists should be linked at the lowest possible level at the time of entry, and should be moved to a lower level when enough information is available. For example, when a festival is first announced, artists should be linked to the main festival event if no dates nor venues are yet available for them. Once this data becomes available, the artists should be added to the sub-event for the applicable day and venue.
